The building of ten elevated metro stations along the OMR IT corridor between Taramani and Sholinganallur has officially begun. This 10km section, which is part of the broader 45.4km Corridor-3 from Madhavaram Milk Colony to Siruseri Sipcot, is expected to be finished by next year.
The construction of OMR Road's first flyover began in January 2024, with Chennai Metro Rail Limited starting pile work at the Thoraipakkam intersection. According to official sources in the Tamil Nadu Road Development Company, the CMRL would construct four flyovers in all, which will be integrated with its elevated line. This flyover will be on the first level which is about 6 meters from the ground, while the Chennai Metro Rail viaduct will be at the second level about 18 meters from the ground.
